Teens vary in what they think is fun to do at a party. It is hard to please all teenagers, but it's good to have activity ideas planned for a great event. Teens rock!

Some teens like parties with a theme and decor, and some prefer just to hang out. Both are fine. Having special friends, a comfortable place to chill, delicious food and drinks, and awesome music are a large part of what makes great gathering.

Beyond those basics, many young people are also looking for fun activities and games for entertaining party guests. Teens love parties and dances and teenage birthday celebrations are a lot of fun for guys and girls alike. Here are all kinds of cool activity ideas for co-ed boy/girl events that many teens will enjoy.

Quick and Fun Teen Party Games and Activities

  • Improv – Search drama sites online for improvisation games. Basically people are given a situation and character and then act out whatever comes to mind in a (usually) funny skit.
  • Card games
  • Dancing – Easy. Clear some space and get someone started.
  • Deck out – Have a selection of cool hats, scarves, and beautiful accessories for girls and guys and let everyone dress up in style. Play the song “Puttin’ on the Ritz.” Get out the cameras!
  • Watch a few pre-picked super good YouTube videos. This makes for a great icebreaker.
  • Casino night games
  • Have a selection of games on hand. Some great party games are Apples-to-Apples, Cranium, Pictionary and charades.
  • Is there a pool on hand? How about a late-night swim?
  • What about a backyard bonfire and camp-out?
  • Is there somewhere nearby to go?

Larger, Pre-Planned Activities for Entertaining Fun

A Teen Video Scavenger Hunt Theme Event

This is a take on the old-fashioned hunts many remember, however, instead of collecting items, groups collect video footage of team members performing various tasks or finding items. Each team will need a parent to drive (for safety reasons) and a recording device. Each team starts at the same time with the same list (with more options than can be done in the time allowed) and meets back within a chosen period of time.

Teens have fun meeting the challenges and then watching all the recordings (while they pig out on pizza or ice cream, or course).

Some sample hunt challenges to film (encourage teenagers to "think outside the box." ):

  • a cat and dog touching
  • Snoopy from Peanuts
  • the whole group singing a song
  • film arrival at certain checkpoints
  • get a stranger to give everyone in the group a coin
  • kiss a fish
  • borrow someone’s bicycle and ride in a circle

...and more. It can be a lot of fun thinking of ideas that fit the individual group and area.

A Teen Murder Mystery Night

This can be a blast. Murder mystery games are generally sold as kits, involving scripts and character descriptions for the various players. Often these can get very involved (especially with older teenagers) and often include a full dinner banquet. This may cross the line from activity into a theme for the evening, so the length of the party and game should be taken into consideration. Kits may be purchased online starting in the range of $25-$100 and can even be customized for extra fees. Simply search “Murder Mystery Party” on any search engine for ideas.

Note: Adult supervision is always recommended at events for kids and teens.

Thanks for all the ideas. I know that there are probably alot of people who have no idea what to do. I suggest that for 11, 12, and 13 year old girls you should have a classic sleepover. They are great and cost MUCH less than going somewhere else. I also think that you should not have a theme. Some girls may like themes, but I don't. They may be fun, but you want all activities to have to do with the theme. This limits ideas. You could have a color theme, but they seem boring and it feels like you don't even have a theme. All that work for nothing!
If a simple sleepover at your house is not for you here are some places to go:

Campground
Hotel
Waterpark/ amusment park
ice/ roller-skating rink
Mall
climbing gym
Helicopter ride

There are much more places to go. This all depends on your intrests and budget

Here is what I'm doing, feel free to do the same.

1. I will give the guests a menu, but there is a catch. Everything is coded. Instead of a fork it will say a miny mob machine. It is just coded. Mobs use pitchforks and that is just a huge version of a fork. I also code all the food and drinks I want at my party. The guests slowly uncover the code of the menu!

2. Hard boil one egg for every guest but 2. Everyone randomly picks an egg and smashes it on thier head hoping it is hardboiled

3. Have a silly string war

4. Tie balloons around everyone's ankle. They all try to stomp on eachother's!

5. Divide into teams, Have one girl put shaving cream on her head from each group. They go a few feet and everyone throws cheese puff on thier head. The team with the cheesiest head wins!

6. Give everyone a toothpick to put in thier mouth. They form a line and pass around a candy with a hole in it (like a lifesaver.)

7. You can't forget dessert!!!

8. Put a truth and a dare card insid a balloon. Everone picks one and pops it to answer the truth, do the dare or both.

9. Play hide and go seek at night.

10. Put a cookie on your forehead and bring it to your mouth by only using your facial expressions

11. Play freeze dance

12. Have one girl be the "pointer" Every one else gets in a line. She points to a random teen who starts of a random story. At a random time she randomly picks somone else to continue it. As you can probably see it is a random game.

13. Have 1 guest leave the room while everyone else hides in a sleeping bag. She comes in and tries to figure out who is in which bag by feeling them.

14. Ask everyone to bring a board game.

15. Give everyone and equal pile of small candies (like m and m's) Somone starts off by saying "I have never..." Whatever she says must be true for herself. If you have not done that then you must eat an sweet. Whoever has the most at the end wins!!!

16. Put a multicolored candy (like skittles) In a bowl. Have everyone draw 2 pieces and if the colors match they may eat them, if not they keep it in thier mouth and eat more and more each round until they finally get 2 of the same color.

17. Play truth or dare

18. watch a movie

19. Give eachother makeovers, BLINDFOLDED!!!

These are not ALL my own ideas.
