Coming up with great ideas for parties or group events for boys can be a challenge. Keeping a bunch of young boys busy requires some super fun and active ideas.

Generally boys enjoy being on the go or at an event with a cool theme. Some birthday balloons or event decor can be added to liven things up.

The following ideas are great for pre-teen or young teen boys. Most of these ideas can be held at home, on church grounds, in a park or other venues. These are stepping off points and the event can be tailored to the individual group.

A Video Game Party for Boys

Setting up one or several big screen televisions and game systems (friends can bring their systems and games to share) can create a massive multi-player game room. Playoff challenges and prizes for highest score, etc. will add to the fun. A white board could be used for keeping track of scoring.

An All-Boy Obstacle Course Outdoor Challenge

An obstacle course may be built from scratch or purchased as a set where toys or sports equipment are sold. Some parks or schools have permanent obstacle courses available. This is a fun theme for a group of active boys and can be competitive or co-operative. Sports drinks can be served in keeping with the theme. How about a bounce house?

A Pre-Teen Western Themed Party

This can be held at a riding stable or other venue with horses available to ride. Everyone can be asked to dress in jeans, and cowboy ‘gear’ can be supplied. For instance, party favors may include straw hats and/or bandanas. A ‘chow wagon’ might be set up to serve hotdogs and chili, with hot chocolate served in tin cups.

A Fun Group Camp-Out Event

For this event, everyone can gather up their dusty tents and camping gear and head to the hills (or backyard, or church grounds) for some old-fashioned camping. This is especially fun if a campfire is possible. Toasting hotdogs and marshmallows, singing some campfire songs, and telling tales by firelight makes for a great time. If an overnighter is not possible, a “half-a-campout” is fun with tents and all, but ending at 10 p.m. or so.

A Comedy Party Theme

This party may take a bit of pre-planning, depending on the personalities of the guests. With a small ‘stage’ area and perhaps a speaker system with microphones set up, young would-be comedians can try their hands at being stand-up stars for a while. Guests can take turn telling jokes, putting on skits (perhaps from printed scripts), or playing improvisational theater games. Adults may need to lead things off for kids to get the idea of the individual events. Props (like hats, odd items, etc.) can add to the fun. Some kids who have had drama classes may know some good games to play. Funny awards may be handed out for ‘best joke’ and such.

Boys Will Always Find Fun

No matter what the plan, when a great group of boys get together, they are sure to have fun. Keeping the event flexible, offering up good food and drinks, and providing a place to gather will be enough for most boys.

After all, boys just wanna have fun!

Sorry, it didn't help me at all. I was looking for some ideas on what I could have these young men do that was interesting and creative. It seems like everyday is a video game party for teen boys these days. What ELSE can we have them do?
