Free Printable Thanksgiving Fun and Learning Activities for Kids

One can find very cute no-cost November Thanksgiving pages to print on DLTK online. Some of those available to print for free include:

  • Thanksgiving coloring pages – These include drawings and wording for corn, turkey (with many choices, both alive and well-cooked), Pilgrims, Native Americans, giving thanks, and more.
  • Free printable crafts for Thanksgiving – These are slightly more complex printable pages to color, cut out with scissors, and/or glue to make Thanksgiving craft decorations. These include (among others) Native American boy or girl paper crafts and a Pilgrim doorknob hanger. An easy teepee paper craft project can be made by adding tape and 3 straws or twigs to the printed and colored cut-out.
  • A couple cute and easy printed activities utilize those abundant empty toilet paper rolls. These include a totem pole, a Native American, a Pilgrim, and a cute Pilgrim mouse. Besides the toilet paper rolls, all that is required for the latter project are the printed page(s), scissors, glue, and crayons, markers or color pencils.
  • Games to print – These fun games are educational and charming. Look for turkey hangman, Thanksgiving bingo, dominoes, memory cards, anagram word scrambles, mazes, and more.

Other goodies to print on DLTK include bookmarks, awards, recipe cards, and treat bags.

Fun Thanksgiving Facts for Family Discussion

The following facts might make for some interesting table conversation and discussion. History.com writes on its website:

  • "The pilgrims didn't use forks; they ate with spoons, knives, and their fingers. They wiped their hands on large cloth napkins which they also used to pick up hot morsels of food."
  • The best food being served at meals in the 17th century was placed near the people with the highest social standing. Rather than trying everything on the table, people tended to eat the food placed closest to them, so some folks ate better than others.
  • Salt was put on the dinner table, but pepper stayed in the kitchen and was used only during cooking.
  • Love pumpkin pie? The pilgrims probably never ate this "traditional" Thanksgiving food. Sugar was in short supply and there were no ovens for baking.

Boredom-Busters for Kids

With free holiday activities like these online, kids of all ages will have no reason to be bored over the Thanksgiving holiday, even while endlessly waiting as the delicious smells of holiday foods cooking fill the air. Simple fun crafts, a game or activity, and some amusing discussion can help keep those at the little kids' table smiling and amused.
